Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I inherited a very nice Kongsberg M1894 from my grandfather who got it as a gift from a norwegian of his friend in the late 1960s. I could not have found out this much about these marvelous knive-bayonet, if you had not published this uch information. Thank you very much indeed!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Your site is very interesting.
Yesterday I purchased an m/1896 from a market stall. This is the first military knife for my collection.
From your information I deduce it was made 1905-1912 (EJ AB, conical lock) and issued to Landstormen 2nd Infantry Regiment, 45th Company, Rifle 3575 (L/I2 N0 45c No 3575).
Ricasso and hilt are stamped with crown on one side, the other side 575 with EJ AB on ricasso. Most pictures have the number below the crown. What is this number?
The scabbard is marked with crown opposite 881 on both collar and ball tip. I cannot see a maker's mark.
The worn but serviceable frog has the strap attached at the centre of the three rivets holding the belt loop.
This is all in very nice condition. It has no rust, greased scabbard and pliable leather.
The blade is undamaged, it is also very dull. I guess this one did not open many cans of beef or slice any potatoes.
I am very happy with this acquisition. Now I must build a display for my blades, as this one is too long to fit in the cutlery drawer 🙂
